What if you really want to give birth in a hospital? But you also want minimally invasive treatment. Today's guest Dr. Jacqueline Worth is a mother of two girls and an MD who has been delivering babies for over 20 years! She admits that when she was pregnant, she did not get all of her questions answered and wishes that her doctors had explained more. Learning from her own experience, she opened up her own private practice in New York city called Village Obstetrics and she has made it her mission to put mom and baby first, while also respecting the rules of a hospital.
Learn what minimally invasive birth actually is and how to decide if you should really stay with your gynecologist as your OB in this episode of the Mamas in Training Podcast.
Should your Gynecologist be your Obstetrician?
Sometimes we just stick with our gynecologist because we think that's the best and easiest path. But what if our OB/GYN doesn’t share the same values that we share for our pregnancy, birth and postpartum?
Today, Dr Worth encourages us to ask questions of our gynecologist or current OB to make sure they are a right fit for this new journey. It may be a matter of switching to a smaller practice that can give you more individualized care.
She also shares with us the three tools that we can receive from a hospital to help us encourage labor and how doctors have to work within those tools to allow you to have either spontaneous labor or go for an induction. There are really only these three tools, so it’s important for us to know what we can do on our own before we arrive at the hospital. In addition, it’s most important for us to know where our providers place value, so we don’t feel forced into something we don’t desire.
Joyful and unhurried are the two pillars of her intimate practice and isn't that all how we envision our births! Listen to this episode to find confidence and strength in finding your provider so you can give birth as you desire.
